Chang Je Won, a former member of the People Power Party and the father of rapper Noel, has been discovered deceased, leading to the cancellation of a press briefing that had been arranged by the legal team advocating for a former secretary who had accused him of sexual assault.

On April 1, Attorney Kim Jae Ryeon, representing the alleged victim, posted on social media, "The morning press event stands canceled. We express regret."

The press briefing was called off upon learning of Chang's passing, which took place the night before. Authorities reported finding Chang deceased around 11:40 p.m. on March 31 in an officetel in Gangdong District, Seoul. A suicide note, believed to be written by Chang, was located at the scene. Law enforcement officials stated that there are presently no signs of any foul play.

Kim Jae Ryeon and another attorney, Noh Ji Seon, had previously stated their submission of photo and video evidence linked to the sexual assault case to the authorities and had intended to hold a press event on the morning of April 1.

The accuser, identified as 'A,' had lodged a complaint against Chang on January 17. At the time of the alleged incident in November 2015, Chang held the position of vice president at a university in Busan and was accused of sexually assaulting A, who had been employed as his secretary. Chang consistently refuted the accusations.

Chang's death occurred one day before the planned media briefing. In his suicide note, Chang purportedly expressed sentiments such as "I apologize to my family" and "I love you."
