AMD CEO Lisa Su Tells Yahoo Finance: Massive Demand for AI Infrastructure
/Article

According to AMD CEO Lisa Su, the demand for AI infrastructure remains high despite claims from market analysts. Su emphasized that the need for computing power is significant globally and AMD will continue investing heavily in this area, considering it the most crucial technology of the last five decades.

To support this stance, AMD recently finalized its acquisition of ZT Systems for $4.9 billion which is set to enhance its presence in hyperscaler compute infrastructure. Su anticipates this move to positively impact AMD’s financial results by the end of 2025. Furthermore, the company is in discussions to acquire ZT Systems’ US-based data center infrastructure manufacturing business this year.

Su highlighted that the AI sector is still in its early stages and there is room for growth and innovation in various industries. AMD's stock has experienced a decline, reflecting the broader downturn in tech stocks. Despite making advancements with its CPU and GPU products like Ryzen, EPYC, and Radeon platforms, some analysts remain cautious about AMD's long-term market position and suggest increased investment in R&D to compete effectively.

JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur, for example, maintains a Neutral rating on AMD's stock, citing the need for significant expenditure to match industry leaders. Therefore, AMD continues to navigate challenges in the market while striving to maximize its position in the evolving tech landscape.
