DDG decided to cut his dreadlocks as a celebration when he exceeded 40,000 new subscribers during his weeklong "Hit-A-Thon" Twitch livestream. He removed his iconic locs in front of an audience of 60,000 live viewers on Twitch after hitting his 40,000-subscriber target during the event where he created an entire album live. The rapper and content creator had pledged to shave off his hair if he achieved that goal during the 24/7 Twitch event, which took place from March 24 to March 31. By the end of the stream, he had gained over 42,000 new subscribers and reached a peak of more than 90,000 concurrent viewers. DDG informed the audience, "Cutting my dreads right now on Twitch; 60,000 people are watching on Twitch." Before starting, he involved his friends by asking if they wanted to cut a strand. When the first loc was cut, he exclaimed, "Noooo," as one of his friends displayed it to the camera. After the last dreadlock fell, DDG was prepared for a smooth fade. However, he mentioned that this new style will not be long-lasting as he plans to regrow his hair again. The haircut marked the end of an exciting week that merged music production with live entertainment. Throughout the stream, spectators participated in shaping the album by voting on beats, offering input on lyrics, and even determining which songs made the final album. DDG collaborated with various artists such as Ty Dolla $ign, Kevin Gates, Rich the Kid, and Shaboozey, and Twitch personalities like Kai Cenat, Adin Ross, and Deshae Frost. Earlier in the week, after hitting 35,000 subscribers, DDG participated in a Fear Factor-style challenge with "wild animals," adding an extra element of unpredictability to the stream. The "Hit-A-Thon" concluded on March 31 after seven consecutive days of uninterrupted streaming.
