Director Min Kyudong's film 'The Old Woman With The Knife,' known for its intense action sequences featuring Lee Hye Young and Kim Sung Cheol, has been officially invited to the prestigious 15th Beijing International Film Festival scheduled for April 18. The film's distributor, NEW, announced on March 31 that it will be part of the non-competitive Panorama section at the festival. This marks the third international film festival invitation for the movie, following its screenings at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival.
The Beijing International Film Festival, a significant cinematic event in China alongside the Shanghai International Film Festival, has selected 'The Old Woman With The Knife,' making it the second Korean film in recent years to be invited to a Chinese international film festival, after 'Exhuma' in 2023. The Panorama section of the festival is renowned for showcasing films that blend artistry, popularity, and high-quality storytelling, creating anticipation for its reception among Chinese audiences.
Director Min Kyudong expressed his excitement about the film being featured at the Beijing International Film Festival, hoping that its energy and emotion will resonate with the viewers. 'The Old Woman With The Knife' narrates the compelling tale of a seasoned assassin (played by Lee Hye Young) who has spent decades eliminating undesirable targets for an organization, facing a formidable adversary (played by Kim Sung Cheol) in a gripping showdown.
The film is scheduled for release on May 1.
