Atlanta police homicide commander Lt. Andrew Smith reported that Young Scooter sustained a leg injury while fleeing from the police, which led to his death on his 39th birthday. The circumstances of his death have raised questions about what really happened.

However, Young Scooter's son, Kenneth Bailey Jr., expressed anger on Instagram over the situation, criticizing the Atlanta Police Department for their actions. He mentioned that he only wanted to ensure his father's safety during the encounter.

Following reports of shots fired and a woman being dragged into a home on William Nye Drive, officers arrived at the scene. When they knocked on the door, a man opened it briefly and then shut it, prompting Young Scooter and another man to flee on foot. Young Scooter sustained a leg injury during the escape and later died at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The Atlanta Police Department clarified that the injury was not caused by the officers, emphasizing that there was no shooting involved in the incident. Despite some confusion regarding a separate shooting near State Farm Arena, it was confirmed that Young Scooter was the one who passed away. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to investigate the case further amidst public speculation.
