Charlie Javice's lawyer argues that she cannot wear an ankle monitor currently as she works as a pilates instructor. Following a conviction for defrauding JPMorgan Chase, federal prosecutors sought to have this monitoring device put in place before her sentencing. However, her legal team contested this request, stating that it would interfere with her job. Javice, along with her co-defendant Olivier Amar, faces charges of conspiracy and fraud, accused of deceiving the bank for $175 million in the sale of their startup, Frank. The prosecutors highlighted them as flight risks due to their citizenship status. Javice's defense attorney insisted that the ankle monitor would significantly impact her ability to teach pilates, which is her primary source of income since losing her previous business ventures. The judge previously allowed her to remain free under certain conditions, including wearing the ankle bracelet.
