The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission has initiated an inquiry into the diversity practices of Walt Disney and its ABC division, suspecting potential violations of U.S. equal employment opportunity rules. FCC Chair Brendan Carr communicated in a letter to Disney CEO Robert Iger that the company's efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion might not have met FCC guidelines, emphasizing that improvements may be insufficient. Carr stressed the importance of Disney taking concrete actions to eliminate any discriminatory practices. Similar probes have also been initiated by Carr towards Comcast and Verizon.
