/Article

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has officially confirmed that Argentina has requested a $20 billion program, as announced by the Argentine government. The program will be an Extended Fund Facility (EFF). This marks Argentina's 23rd IMF program since joining in 1956. The approval and implementation of the package are subject to the IMF Executive Board's approval. The EFF is tailored for countries facing significant payment imbalances due to structural issues or slow economic growth. It can assist in addressing structural imbalances over an extended period. Argentina has requested a four-year program with a 10-year repayment period. The disbursement of funds will occur in installments linked to meeting specified objectives.
