The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, announced on Friday that the United States Treasury has extended the sanctions waiver for the Serbian oil company NIS by 30 days. NIS runs Serbia's sole oil refinery, capable of producing 4.8 million tons annually and meeting most of the country's energy requirements. The majority ownership of NIS lies with Russia's Gazprom Neft and Gazprom. The previous sanction waiver was set to end at midnight, but Vucic expressed gratitude to the American partners for granting the extension.
