JAY-Z’s Extortion Case Continues Amid Judge’s Review of Incriminating Recordings
/Article

The judge ruled in favor of JAY-Z in his extortion case against Tony Buzbee, citing incriminating audio evidence. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Epstein decided to uphold the extortion lawsuit on Wednesday, pointing to recently uncovered recordings as crucial to the case. The audio obtained from Jane Doe's home suggests that she did not authorize Buzbee to involve JAY-Z in the lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs. The judge emphasized the importance of this new evidence, supporting both the defamation and extortion claims. JAY-Z filed the lawsuit in November 2024, accusing Buzbee of trying to extort him through a demand letter. Despite Doe's claims that the recording was altered, JAY-Z's attorney countered this, asserting the authenticity of the evidence. The lawsuit filed by Jane Doe against JAY-Z and Diddy was dismissed, leading to JAY-Z suing for defamation. The case is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for April 7.
