Walmart’s Easter Feast Kit without Eggs
/Article

Walmart has decided not to include eggs in its Easter meal selection this year due to shortages and high prices caused by the bird flu outbreak in poultry. The promotion for Easter 2025 by Walmart is offering a meal kit with various ingredients such as ham, potatoes, corn, and cake to serve eight people for less than $6 per person, which is a lower average price compared to the previous year. Eggs, a significant component of last year's kit, have been excluded this time. Walmart stated that the 2025 basket includes popular Easter meal items and does not include pantry staples like salt, pepper, butter, milk, and eggs. The bird flu outbreak among egg-laying hens has led to surging prices and shortages of eggs, impacting grocery stores and restaurants. To combat the shortage, the U.S. might import Brazilian and broiler chicken eggs for processed foods. Walmart, as the largest grocer in the U.S., has not imposed broad purchase limits on eggs but has limited purchases to six units per customer for 60-count cartons online. Despite the challenges, Walmart reported growth in grocery revenue, partly due to the inflation in egg prices.
