IU contributes 200 million KRW (~136,254 USD) to aid wildfire victims and firefighters

IU has taken a significant step to assist victims of wildfires. The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association announced on March 26 that IU, also known as Lee Ji Eun, has generously donated 200 million KRW (~136,248 USD) to support those affected by the disaster. She contributed 100 million KRW (~68,124 USD) each to help the victims and the firefighters involved in the relief efforts. The donations are aimed at aiding wildfire relief operations and enhancing the conditions and public perception of the hardworking firefighters who respond to such emergencies.

In her statement, IU mentioned her desire to offer whatever help she can to those impacted by the wildfires and conveyed her sympathies to the victims. She expressed her hope for the swift containment of the wildfire without any further harm. Furthermore, she expressed her appreciation for the dedication of the firefighters striving tirelessly to combat the fire.

Over the years, IU has consistently shown her support by making donations during various calamities, contributing to flood relief efforts in 2020 and the East Coast wildfire relief in 2022.

Hope Bridge Secretary-General Shin Hoon acknowledged IU's donation as a reflection of her profound empathy for those in distress and her gratitude towards the unsung heroes behind the scenes. He assured that the organization will ensure IU's generous donation reaches the affected communities and frontline responders effectively.

Established in 1961, the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association specializes in disaster relief fundraising. It engages in activities such as emergency disaster response, fundraising, distribution of public donations, post-disaster community recovery, and aid for vulnerable populations. To date, the organization has provided over 1.6 trillion KRW (~1.09 billion USD) in donations and over 60 million relief supplies.
