Lim Young Woong, a popular singer, encountered a temporary seizure of his high-end residence in Mapo-gu District Office due to unpaid local taxes. Fortunately, his agency, Fish Music, quickly addressed the issue upon discovery, emphasizing it was not intentional tax evasion. The delay in tax payment was attributed to Lim not receiving the tax notice promptly, as the mailbox for his Mecenatpolis apartment on the third floor led to oversight. As soon as the problem surfaced earlier this year, his outstanding taxes were promptly settled, leading to the lifting of the seizure. The agency expressed regret for the oversight and pledged to manage such matters more diligently.
In October 2023, Mapo-gu Office temporarily seized Lim’s penthouse in Mecenatpolis, which he bought in September 2022 for around 5.1 billion KRW. The seizure was revoked in January 2024 after almost three months. However, concerns arose regarding the lengthy process from tax delinquency to resolution, which took nearly a year.
Lim Young Woong's substantial earnings remain a topic of interest, with his 2023 audit report from Fish Music estimating his revenue at 19.2 billion KRW and total compensation, including dividends and unpaid royalties, at 23.5 billion KRW. Furthermore, Lim holds the most significant stake in Fish Music.
