Former entertainment agency CEO 'A' has been sentenced to a suspended prison term in a landmark trial for assaulting an underaged idol with a blunt object.

In a ruling by Judge Lee Kyung Sun of the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 16, 'A' was handed a one-year prison sentence, suspended for three years, for charges of aggravated assault, special battery, and child abuse. As part of the verdict, the CEO must also complete 120 hours of community service. This means that the imprisonment will only be enforced if 'A' violates the law during the probation period.

The case emerged after reports of 'A' physically attacking members of an idol group in their dormitory last year, with alcohol believed to have played a role. One member reported the incident to the police, leading to an investigation.

In particular, 'A' was accused of assaulting a minor member, 'B,' over alleged rule-breaking regarding a manager relationship. 'B' was repeatedly struck on the thighs and buttocks by the CEO, who even used a metal rod to enforce discipline, citing a dirty bathroom as the reason.

Describing the severity of the assaults, the court highlighted the injuries sustained by the minor and condemned the CEO's actions towards fellow agency artists. Despite the gravity of the crimes, 'A' was praised for admitting guilt, resigning from the CEO position, compensating victims, and demonstrating a clean criminal record and no previous similar offenses.

The viral incident underscores the serious consequences of abuse in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the importance of accountability and justice for victims.
