Stocks were on the rise on Monday, continuing gains from last week that ended a four-week period of losses for the S&P 500.
According to Adam Turnquist, the chief technical strategist at LPL Financial, instances of the S&P 500 falling for four consecutive weeks are uncommon. It has been observed historically that stocks tend to experience gains in the year following such extended periods of losses.
However, the magnitude of these gains is usually smaller when stocks are recovering from being below their 200-day moving average, as is the case currently.
