Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang delivered the keynote address at the company's GPU Technology Conference, which included Quantum Day for the first time, showcasing advancements in quantum technology.
Huang admitted that Quantum Day was a way of acknowledging and making amends for his previous dismissive comments about quantum technology, which had negatively impacted the market for quantum stocks. Despite his effort to show contrition, some panelists remained skeptical of his sincerity and commitment to quantum technology.
The conference featured discussions among executives from emerging quantum computing companies like Quantinuum, IonQ, and SEEQC, as well as researchers from tech giants such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.
While some panelists viewed the Quantum Day as a positive exposure for the growing technology, others felt that Huang's attitude towards quantum computing was still not entirely convinced or supportive.
One of the companies involved, D-Wave, made significant progress in the quantum field by achieving "quantum supremacy" in simulating calculations. During the conference, D-Wave also introduced a new quantum blockchain architecture for various applications.
