Actress Kim Hye Soo recently divulged a hilarious yet relatable reason for stepping back from the Blue Dragon Film Awards – the grueling diet regime required to slip into those dazzling dresses.
In a candid interview for the Disney+ series 'Unmasked' on the 'PDC by PDC' channel, Kim shared this anecdote alongside her co-stars, Jung Sung Il and Joo Jong Hyuk.
Addressing speculations about her withdrawal from the awards ceremony to dodge wearing dresses, Kim Hye Soo chuckled and affirmed, "Yep, that's the truth. I was just too tired of starving myself at year-end." The actress known for her show-stopping red-carpet looks disclosed the extreme lengths she went to in order to maintain her figure for such grand occasions.
Recalling an amusing incident during a Trigger promotional event in Singapore, Kim recounted, "After the drama wrapped up, I indulged in a bunch of unnecessary treats and put on some weight. I even questioned whether I could make it to Singapore." She confessed, "Before the flight, I indulged. And later, on the plane, when Jung Sung Il ordered food, I followed suit and ate a lot. Panic set in as I thought, 'I have to don a dress tomorrow.'"
Upon reaching Singapore, Kim faced a tight squeeze during her dress fitting. "The outfit was smaller than my size at the time, and zipping it up was a challenge. I thought, 'What am I going to do?' Then Jung Sung Il suggested, 'Let's go for a run today,' so I joined him," she reminisced. "Since it was an official event, they assigned a guard to accompany us. My guard, a lady, briefly left our side only to reappear riding a bicycle, trailing us as we jogged."
Their on-the-spot running escapade ultimately secured Kim the perfect fit for her dress. "The next day, the zipper slid up effortlessly. Our stylist even bowed to Jung Sung Il in gratitude," she added with a chuckle.
Kim Hye Soo's light-hearted narrative not only underscored her commitment to her profession but also showcased the camaraderie and teamwork behind the curtain. Fans adored her candidness and wit, reaffirming her position as one of Korea's most cherished actresses.
