A report by The Information revealed that OpenAI and Meta Platforms are in talks with Reliance Industries in India regarding potential partnerships to enhance their artificial intelligence offerings in the country.

One proposed collaboration is between Reliance Jio and OpenAI to distribute ChatGPT, as per sources familiar with the matter. There are discussions about reducing the price of ChatGPT subscriptions to a few dollars instead of $20 per month.

Reliance is considering selling OpenAI's models to its enterprise customers through an API and discussing running OpenAI models locally to ensure data privacy for Indian users. Specifically, the company is exploring the possibility of deploying Meta and OpenAI models in a massive three-gigawatt data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, claimed to be the world's largest.

Meta declined to comment, and both OpenAI and Reliance have yet to respond to requests for comments. Reliance Industries is a major Indian conglomerate operating in various sectors like petrochemicals, refining, telecommunications, and retail.
