Stellantis and Leapmotor Preferring Spain for Production of B10 Electric Vehicle, According to Insider
/Article

According to a source familiar with the matter, Stellantis and its Chinese partner Leapmotor are leaning towards Spain as the preferred location for producing the B10 electric crossover for the European market starting in 2026. The companies have been exploring potential manufacturing sites in Europe, with Germany and Slovakia also in consideration. To qualify for substantial government subsidies, they are intensifying efforts to source components from Spanish suppliers. While the decision is pending, the production of the vehicle is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2026. Leapmotor has revealed that the B10 is the initial model in a series of EVs aimed at international markets, while Stellantis is positioning it as a means to offer technologically advanced yet reasonably priced electric vehicles to global consumers. The initial plan to manufacture the B10 in Poland was abandoned after Chinese authorities advised against significant investments in European countries that were backing additional tariffs on Chinese-made EVs. The companies then looked into utilizing Stellantis factories in Eisenach, Germany, and Trnava, Slovakia. Spain has emerged as an attractive destination for its cost-effective labor and government incentives for eco-friendly initiatives, having already attracted major battery manufacturers like CATL and Envision AESC. Stellantis declined to provide a comment, and there was no immediate response from Leapmotor.
