Iman Shumpert has responded to accusations made by his ex-wife Teyana Taylor that he disclosed private divorce documents to the press.
Shumpert disputes Taylor's claims that he leaked confidential divorce information to advance his music career.
Through his lawyer Stephen C. Steele, Shumpert denied the allegations and stated that he did not leak any information contained in the legal documents to the media.
Taylor had accused Shumpert of revealing sealed court papers concerning their divorce. In response, she filed a petition against him, seeking penalties for the alleged disclosure of confidential court materials.
The singer and actress alleged that Shumpert strategically timed the leak to coincide with her social media posts featuring actor Aaron Pierre after the 2025 Oscars.
Taylor implied that Shumpert intended to stir up controversy to promote his recent music release.
Additionally, Taylor claimed she had evidence proving that Shumpert paid others to spread information about their divorce online, alleging that he sought to benefit professionally at her expense, leading to public backlash and negative comments.
In court documents, Taylor stated that there was no formal settlement reached between the couple, clarifying that their assets were divided by the court in July 2024.
Furthermore, Taylor accused Shumpert of feigning ignorance when confronted regarding the source of sensitive details from their divorce case being made public.
The court is set to address Taylor's petition and accusations in upcoming hearings later this year.
