Australia's competition watchdog has given its approval for Vocus to acquire TPG Telecom's enterprise, government, and wholesale fixed business and fibre network assets for A$5.25 billion ($3.34 billion). The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) conducted a review focusing on the competition between Vocus and TPG in data network and connectivity services. Vocus mainly serves large enterprise and government clients, while TPG caters to small and medium enterprise customers. The ACCC stated that even after the acquisition, Vocus will face competition from other providers like Telstra, Optus, Aussie Broadband, Superloop, and managed service providers in serving government, large enterprise, and SME customers. TPG Telecom expressed satisfaction with the regulator's decision, indicating that the deal aligns with the company's efforts to simplify operations and reduce costs. Vocus has not yet responded to requests for comments.
