Namoo Actors, the agency representing Lee Jun Ki, issued an official statement regarding a tax assessment of approximately 900 million KRW (around $620,000) imposed by tax authorities. The statement explains that Lee Jun Ki underwent a routine tax audit in 2023 by the Gangnam Tax Office, resulting in additional taxes. The agency clarified that the dispute stemmed from differing interpretations of tax laws between their tax representatives and authorities, particularly regarding transactions with JG Entertainment, a company co-founded by Lee Jun Ki. This situation raised questions about whether the income involved should be classified as corporate tax for JG Entertainment or personal income tax for Lee Jun Ki.

Namoo Actors affirmed that while they respected the tax authorities' decision, they had filed an appeal with the Tax Tribunal for further clarification due to the lack of precedent in previous audits. They highlighted that there were no indications of tax evasion or other irregularities on Lee Jun Ki's part. The agency emphasized that Lee Jun Ki had diligently met his tax obligations under professional guidance and that both the actor and Namoo Actors would continue to fulfill their legal and procedural responsibilities in South Korea.

In addition to the tax issue, Lee Jun Ki, known for his role in the drama 'Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon,' and who released the digital single 'DELETE' to celebrate his first Asia tour in six years last year, had been subject to a tax assessment as a result of payment processing through JG Entertainment, his father's private agency established in 2014.
