Plies Withdraws Copyright Lawsuit as Soulja Boy Swiftly Trolls Him
/Article

Soulja Boy made sure to gloat on social media as soon as Plies decided to drop his copyright infringement lawsuit against him, reviving their ongoing feud. The "Crank That" artist shared a screenshot revealing that Plies had voluntarily dismissed the case without prejudice. Soulja Boy didn’t hold back in his response, mocking Plies for the move and asserting his ownership. The legal dispute originated when Plies filed the lawsuit in November 2024, accusing Soulja Boy, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and GloRilla of sampling his song "Me & My Goons" in GloRilla’s track "Wanna Be." Adding to the tension, Plies alleged that Soulja Boy's "Pretty Boy Swag" also used the unauthorized sample initially, demanding compensation and a jury trial. Soulja Boy vehemently denied the claims, labeling Plies a "liar" and a "snitch" on Instagram Live and defending the originality of his song. He even humorously suggested that Plies should change his name to "Lies." Soulja Boy questioned the timing of Plies' legal action, wondering why it took 14 years for him to bring up the issue. After months of legal back and forth, Plies withdrew his lawsuit on March 13, 2025, with no settlement reached, though the case was dismissed "without prejudice," allowing for a potential refiling in the future.
