IU, a well-known singer and actress, has refuted claims that she was paid ₩500 million per episode for her role in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'.

On March 18th KST, a spokesperson from Pan Entertainment, the production company behind the drama, informed various media outlets that the assertion of IU receiving ₩500 million per episode is untrue.

The controversy arose when an unidentified user on an online platform alleged that IU and Park Bo Gum were earning ₩500 million for each episode of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'. The post also mentioned that Park Hyung Sik, currently in SBS's 'Treasure Island', was supposedly paid the same amount for his part in JTBC's 'Doctor Slump', and Lee Jung Jae allegedly received ₩1 billion per episode for Netflix's 'Squid Game 2'.

'When Life Gives You Tangerines' stars IU and Park Bo Gum and is a drama set in 1950s Jeju, following the adventurous tales of characters Ae Soon and Gwan Shik over four seasons.
