According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Banco Santander from Spain is looking to grow its presence in the United States by teaming up with Verizon to reach the company's extensive customer base.

Through this collaboration, select Verizon customers will have the opportunity to receive bill credits by opening high-interest savings accounts on Santander's newly launched digital banking platform.

In an interview with WSJ, Ana Botín, the executive chair of Santander, mentioned that the bank is exploring other partnerships as part of its strategy to establish itself as a comprehensive digital bank in the U.S.

Both Santander and Verizon have yet to provide comments on the matter in response to requests from Reuters.

In a separate development last month, Banco Santander revealed plans to invest over $2 billion in Mexico within the next three years.
