Jay Rock was detained in Los Angeles after reportedly trying to evade police, leading to the recovery of a firearm from his vehicle.
The rapper, known as Johnny Reed McKinzie, was apprehended by LAPD officers on Thursday evening when he allegedly attempted to flee the scene after being stopped around 6 P.M.
Authorities stated that Jay Rock was found trespassing and consuming alcohol in public.
Video footage circulating online captured the rapper being led away in handcuffs from the scene.
Police disclosed that a firearm was discovered inside his vehicle, resulting in Jay Rock being booked for suspected felony weapons violations.
Prior to this incident, the rapper had teased new music on social media, hinting at an upcoming album release.
He had also made headlines for his reaction to Kendrick Lamar's surprise track "The Heart Pt. 6," expressing initial disbelief and later admiring the authenticity and honesty in the song.
