Wheesung’s family Adjusts Funeral Plans and Sets up Memorial Altar for Fans

In a heartfelt gesture, Wheesung's family has made the decision to hold a private funeral ceremony while setting up a memorial altar for fans to pay their respects.

The announcement came from Wheesung's agency on March 13, revealing that the memorial altar would be open to visitors starting at 11 AM on the 14th.

Calling for privacy and respect, the agency requested that the media refrain from covering the visitors outside the funeral hall to allow for a peaceful mourning process.

Initially, the family had opted not to hold a formal funeral due to the shock of the loss and concerns for Wheesung's mother's well-being. However, responding to the requests from fans and colleagues, a memorial altar has been arranged to honor the late artist.

In a statement on March 12, Wheesung’s younger sibling shared the family's emotional journey, expressing their devastation over the loss. Initially planning for a quiet family-only service, they acknowledged the importance of providing a space for fans to bid farewell to Wheesung.

The artist, known as Choi Wheesung, was tragically discovered deceased at his residence in Seoul on March 10. Reports indicated the presence of syringes at the scene, with an autopsy conducted on March 12 by the National Forensic Service to determine the cause of death.

The decision to open the memorial altar to fans underscores the deep impact Wheesung had on those who cherished him both as an artist and as a person, offering an opportunity for a final farewell to the beloved singer.
