"One of Them Days" marks Palmer and Grammy winner SZA's exciting debut as co-leads in a major film. The plot follows Dreux and Alyssa, inseparable friends navigating a whirlwind day of chaos as they strive to evade eviction by any means necessary.
Palmer's admiration for SZA's comedic talent sparked when they both graced the stage of "Saturday Night Live" in 2022. Impressed by SZA's natural humor, Palmer was adamant about casting the songstress in her cinematic venture. "People underestimate musicians in acting, but she's naturally funny," gushed Palmer, praising SZA's versatility and dedication to her craft.
While "One of Them Days" is finally hitting British screens, its journey to completion was far from easy. Palmer disclosed that the project lingered in development limbo for almost five years, undergoing four script revisions. Despite early pressures for a more exaggerated storyline, Palmer, as an executive producer, steered the movie towards authenticity, centered on the struggles of the community and the impacts of gentrification.
"I had to be precise about the changes, the essence of the jokes, and the narrative behind the characters," Palmer shared. Her commitment extended beyond her acting role, emphasizing her genuine investment in the project's message and purpose.
