SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce Introduces Crypto Task Force Members

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has officially unveiled the members of the newly established Crypto Task Force, aiming to address regulatory issues related to digital assets.

Led by Commissioner Peirce, the task force brings together experts from various sectors within the SEC, incorporating a diverse range of knowledge in legal, policy, and operational areas. Peirce underscored the team's commitment to tackling complex regulatory challenges in the cryptocurrency realm.

In a statement, Peirce expressed confidence in the expertise and dedication of the Crypto Task Force members, highlighting their collaborative approach to finding practical solutions to intricate regulatory dilemmas.

The leadership team comprises Richard Gabbert as Chief of Staff, Michael Selig as Chief Counsel, Taylor Asher as Chief Policy Advisor, and Sumeera Younis as Chief of Operations, working alongside a group of Senior Advisors who contribute their specialized knowledge.

Established in January 2025 under Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda, the task force's primary objectives include establishing clearer regulatory frameworks, enhancing compliance procedures, and refining disclosure standards to ensure robust enforcement measures focused on effectiveness.

To engage with stakeholders and the public, the Crypto Task Force will host a series of public roundtable discussions, titled "Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity." The first event, scheduled for March 21 with the theme "How We Got Here and How We Get Out – Defining Security Status," will be live-streamed for accessibility, with provisions for small-group breakout discussions for attendee interaction.

Commissioner Peirce emphasized the importance of public engagement in shaping a practical regulatory landscape for the crypto industry, aligning with the vision to promote crypto innovation and position America as a leading global player in the digital asset sector.
