Former NCT member Taeil has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a woman along with accomplices, but a requested arrest warrant was denied. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently brought Taeil and two others to trial for the alleged assault on an intoxicated woman last year. While initial rumors mentioned a weapon's involvement in the crime, these have been confirmed to be false. The accused face charges under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act for engaging in sexual activity with a victim who was incapacitated.

The suspects admitted to the crime during questioning by the police last year. However, Taeil, who debuted with NCT in 2016 and was later expelled from SM Entertainment following the incident, did not comply with the prosecution's summons due to health reasons. His accomplices appeared for questioning but maintain that the assault was not planned. Taeil submitted medical documentation and legal representation instead of facing the authorities directly.
