Gervonta Davis stirred up controversy after blaming hair grease for his unexpected move during the intense battle against Lamont Roach Jr. But it seems his hairstylist is not ready to let him slide that easily.

The highly anticipated world title fight concluded in a controversial majority draw, with Davis’ sudden kneel becoming a major talking point.

Davis, the lightweight champion, attributed his perplexing decision to kneel in the ninth round to his hairstylist, claiming that excessive hair grease caused irritation in his eyes.

“I just got my hair done a couple of days ago, and she overloaded it with grease,” Davis explained in a post-fight interview. “So, the sweat and grease were dripping into my eyes, causing discomfort.”

Despite the crowd’s disapproval, Davis stood by his statement, even in the face of doubt.

“Yes, it burned my eyes. This is not a joke, it’s the truth. Why all the booing as if I’m spouting nonsense?” he questioned. “This is real. Look at my hair – just styled. It happens. They’ll love you, then criticize you, and then love you once more.”

However, a hairstylist from the Bronx, known as @leebthebrand on social media, disputed Davis’ claims.

In response to criticism and blame from fans who felt she had cost them their bets, she fired back, revealing that Davis had his hair styled several days before the fight, emphasizing that the timing was not an excuse.

In one post, she humorously questioned if the alleged grease was present with them in the room, implying there was no such issue. She also shared an image of the hair product used on Davis, labeled as “no grease.”

Despite the stylist’s rebuttal, Davis continued to stand by his explanation on social media.

“The draw was unjust because of that knee incident, even though I landed the most punches in the fight. He didn’t even land a single punch when I kneeled,” Davis tweeted. “I understand, I shouldn’t have kneeled, but that hair grease was causing a burning sensation in my eyes!”
