Ahreum, a former member of T-ara, has submitted an appeal challenging the suspended sentence she received for child abuse and defamation charges. The appeal was lodged on January 23rd through her legal representative, contesting the initial court ruling. The Suwon District Court's Ansan Branch previously sentenced Ahreum to 8 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, for the mentioned charges. She was also mandated to undergo 40 hours of child abuse prevention education. The case stemmed from allegations made by Ahreum against her ex-husband of child abuse towards their children during their marriage, leading to legal actions filed against Ahreum and her mother. Ahreum was found guilty of child abduction and defamation violations on January 16th, resulting in the aforementioned sentence. Her mother also received a suspended prison sentence for related offenses. Ahreum, who debuted with T-ara and later left the group in 2013, remarried in 2019, announcing the birth of her third child and subsequent pregnancy news last year.
