"Travel Agency Linked to Produce 101 Season 2 Contestant Faces Scam Allegations

A travel agency, associated with a former contestant from the popular Korean reality show 'Produce 101 Season 2,' is currently under scrutiny for alleged fraudulent activities.

Several victims have disclosed that they fell prey to the agency's deceptive practices, where they were enticed by travel offerings tied to the ex-reality show participant.

Operating predominantly in Southeast Asia, the agency is spearheaded by an individual known as 'A,' who was revealed by MBC News to have a background in the K-pop entertainment industry, as evidenced by a blurred image from 'Produce 101 Season 2' showcased during the investigative report.

The controversy unfolded when the agency suddenly cancelled booked trips without warning, pledging reimbursements that were never fulfilled. Victims shared their ordeal of failed communication attempts with the agency, only to discover the office deserted, devoid of any signage and staff. The current tally of confirmed victims stands at 15.

In a surprising turn of events, 'A,' the agency's public face, distanced himself from the scandal, attributing his involvement to a brief proxy role for share transfers. Expressing shock at the situation, he clarified, "I was under the impression that my association was temporary and for a specific purpose, but the unfolding events have left me astounded."

Law enforcement authorities have taken action by summoning 'A' for questioning regarding the alleged scam.
