Tae Jin Ah, a well-known trot singer, is currently in the second phase of his life, being a devoted caretaker for his wife who is suffering from dementia. Initially recognized as one of the "Four Kings of Trot" together with Song Dae Kwan, Seol Woon Do, and Hyun Chul, Tae Jin Ah started his career in 1972 with the song "The Green Hills of Memories." However, in 1975, he faced a ban from broadcasting due to being involved in an adultery scandal, leading to a 16-year hiatus.

After rebuilding his career by performing for Korean communities in the U.S., Tae Jin Ah met and married Lee Ok Hyung, a family member of the renowned singer Lee Mi Ja. They raised a family together, including their son Jo Sung Hyun, who is popularly known as Eru.

In 1984, Tae Jin Ah made a successful return to Korean television with hits like "A Woman Who Doesn’t Look in the Mirror," "Sorry, So Sorry," and "Ok Kyung." His open demonstrations of love for his wife in public earned him the nickname "wife fool."

In 2023, it was disclosed that Tae Jin Ah's wife, Lee Ok Hyung, had been diagnosed with dementia, evoking widespread sympathy. Tae Jin Ah emotionally expressed on TV his willingness to spend his entire fortune for her cure. He disclosed his practice of tying his wrist to hers while sleeping, signifying the profoundness of his affection.

In March of the same year, he reminisced about the sentimental moment when his wife, due to treatments and care, looked at him and addressed him as "honey" again, moving him to tears.

Despite these touching moments, the reality of their situation is challenging. In a televised program in May, Tae Jin Ah confessed about his current financial struggles, mentioning that he is gradually depleting the savings he once had while taking care of his wife.

Lee Ok Hyung was diagnosed with dementia in 2019, and for the past six years, Tae Jin Ah has been diligently providing her with daily care. He confessed that these six years have felt longer than the preceding fifty years.
