In the appeals trial, the female BJ, who was charged with blackmailing singer Junsu and extorting money, had her prison sentence maintained. The Seoul High Court's 10-1 Criminal Division conducted the appeals sentencing hearing, ruling that the BJ had blackmailed Junsu between September 2020 and October 2024, extorting a total of 840 million KRW (about 603,000 USD) over 101 incidents. Initially sentenced to seven years in prison, the BJ appealed for unfair sentencing, while the prosecution appealed for a law misinterpretation. The appellate court highlighted the severity of the offense due to the systematic blackmail actions, prolonged period, methods used, and extorted amount, causing the victim extreme stress and depression. As part of the ruling, the court ordered the confiscation of the BJ's mobile devices, including a phone with private conversations with Kim Junsu, to prevent further harm. Despite the BJ apologizing during the first trial and promising not to cause harm again, she filed an appeal with the Supreme Court challenging the recent ruling.
