Shinji, a member of the experienced K-pop group Koyote, called out a social media user for wrongly using an old photo to falsely claim that she supports a specific presidential candidate.

Taking to her personal social media account, Shinji expressed her frustration by stating, “I can't believe some people. Our laws must be stricter to prevent this from happening. As a celebrity, I won't just ignore it this time. It is too unjust.”

The issue arose when a social media user shared a photo of themselves with Shinji, along with text that inaccurately implied the singer's endorsement of a particular candidate in the upcoming presidential election. The old photo depicted Shinji smiling and making a V sign, a gesture that is commonly misconstrued during Korean election seasons.

Directing her response to the individual, Shinji clarified, “This photo was taken a long time ago, and it was purely a friendly gesture I made after an event with no political meaning intended. If you persist in using it in this manner, I will involve my company and take legal action. Kindly remove the photo.”

Given that gestures like the thumbs-up and V sign are closely observed in South Korea, particularly during election campaigns, Shinji's prompt action highlights the growing worry among public figures regarding the misrepresentation of their images in political contexts.
