Quavo appointed Gregory Jackson Jr. as the president of The Rocket Foundation to honor the memory of his nephew Takeoff and to expand efforts in fighting gun violence on a national level.
With a focus on combating gun violence, Quavo has selected Gregory Jackson Jr. to lead The Rocket Foundation, a nonprofit established in memory of Takeoff, a member of the Migos group who has passed away. Jackson, known for his previous roles in the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and as a Special Assistant to Joe Biden, will be in charge of managing the foundation’s daily activities, policy initiatives, and national collaborations.
Expressing his confidence in Jackson's leadership abilities, Quavo mentioned, "Greg has been a dedicated partner in our ongoing mission to end gun violence. I am pleased to entrust him with the responsibility of overseeing our foundation and upholding Takeoff’s memory."
Jackson's new role follows the shutdown of the office he helped establish in the White House with Vice President Kamala Harris. He emphasized the importance of preventing gun violence, inspired by Quavo's family and their resilience in the face of tragedy.
Jackson boasts experience in community advocacy and policy change, having achieved significant milestones in securing funding for gun violence prevention and contributing to the passing of federal gun safety laws.
Established in November 2022, The Rocket Foundation was created shortly after Takeoff's tragic death to support grassroots initiatives against violence and organize events such as the Rocket Foundation Summit and the SPARK Grants Program, which was introduced in Atlanta in honor of Takeoff’s 30th birthday.
