Netflix has confirmed the launch of a new original series called 'Vole' (working title), featuring popular actors Ryu Jun Yeol and Sul Kyung Gu. The intriguing thriller tells the tale of a reclusive writer who partners with a relentless loan shark to regain his stolen identity and life.

Adapted from the Kakao webtoon of the same title, 'Vole' is inspired by the eerie Korean folktale of a rat turning into a human after consuming a fingernail. The story revolves around Moon Jae, an introverted author plagued by social anxiety. His life turns upside down when his phone's fingerprint recognition malfunctions, and his only friend vanishes. Moon Jae discovers that an enigmatic figure named Vole has assumed his identity, leaving him with nothing.

Determined to reclaim what is rightfully his, Moon Jae embarks on a perilous pursuit. He teams up with No Ja, a private investigator and loan shark who had been trailing him for money owed. No Ja becomes entwined in Moon Jae's battle against Vole, aiming to recoup his debt in the process. The series promises a suspenseful narrative blurring the lines between reality and fantasy, engaging viewers in a quest for hidden truths.

Director Kim Hong Sun, known for his work in genre projects such as 'Dear Hongrang' and 'Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area,' will direct the series. Screenwriter Lee Jae Gon, acclaimed for character-focused storytelling in productions like 'Special Affairs Team TEN,' will pen the script. This collaboration is set to deliver a thrilling show captivating audiences worldwide.

Produced by Kakao Entertainment, recognized for successfully adapting webtoons and web novels into hit dramas, 'Vole' is a joint effort by C-JeS Studio and H-House. The series stars Ryu Jun Yeol as Moon Jae and Sul Kyung Gu as No Ja, promising a gripping tale of psychological turmoil and suspense.
