The person accused of being the main perpetrator in a workplace bullying incident that allegedly resulted in the death of former MBC employee Oh Yoanna will have a court hearing in July. According to a report by Star News, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division 48, under Presiding Judge Kim Do Kyun, has scheduled a hearing for July 22 in the damages lawsuit brought by Oh Yoanna's family against the accused, referred to as Mr./Ms. A.

Typically, if the defendant does not respond in writing after the plaintiff files a complaint, the court may issue a default judgment in favor of the plaintiff. However, if the defendant provides a written defense, a trial will proceed, and the default judgment will be revoked.

Oh Yoanna started working at MBC in May 2021 but tragically died in September 2023 at the age of 28. Her death gained national attention when a suicide note detailing severe workplace harassment was found three months later.

After an internal investigation, MBC terminated its contract with Mr./Ms. A, while the other three individuals implicated in the allegations reportedly had their contracts renewed, sparking further public outcry.

This case highlights significant concerns regarding workplace bullying and corporate responsibility in the South Korean media industry.
