Lee Seung Gi, a musician and actor, was recognized for his support of Buddhism on May 5, 2025, during the Buddha's Birthday festivities at Jogyesa Temple in Seoul. Ven. Jinwoo, the Chief Administrator of the Jogye Order, presented him with the 2025 Buddhist Layperson Award.

Acknowledging Lee's active involvement in various Buddhist activities and his advocacy for Buddhist principles, especially evident in his role as a monk in the movie 'About Family,' the Jogye Order's Layperson Award Selection Committee praised him.

Having originally followed Christianity, Lee Seung Gi embraced Buddhism before marrying actress Lee Da In, who hails from a devout Buddhist family. He now follows Buddhist customs, such as wearing prayer beads gifted by his mother-in-law, actress Gyeon Mi Ri.

Aside from his creative pursuits, Lee Seung Gi is committed to community work. He recently volunteered at the Jongno Senior Welfare Center, assisting in serving meals to elderly residents alongside members of the K-pop group The Boyz.
