Lee Hyori, a well-known singer, recently reminisced about the time she spent with the girl group SPICA, a band she was involved in creating. Through two old photos shared on her Instagram Story on May 20, she expressed her fondness for the group with a caption that said, "Suddenly miss them." The images displayed SPICA members during an album photoshoot, bringing back memories of their debut period.
Debuting in 2012, SPICA gained attention for their exceptional vocal talents, characterized by each member's remarkable vocal abilities. Lee Hyori had a close bond with the group, often referring to them as her "five daughters" due to her active role in their development and promotion efforts.
Although SPICA was known for their powerful vocal capabilities, they faced challenges in achieving widespread success. Their music tended to follow a more consistent style, restricting opportunities to showcase their individual vocal strengths. Moreover, their album concepts lacked coherence, making it hard for the group to establish a unique identity. Eventually, as their popularity declined and music releases became sporadic, SPICA went on a hiatus and unofficially disbanded.
After marrying Lee Sang Soon in 2013, Lee Hyori spent the following 11 years in Jeju Island. In late 2023, she relocated to the Pyeongchang-dong neighborhood in Seoul, hinting at a fresh start in her life.
