A former producer at MBC, Kim Jae Hwan, has made accusations suggesting that Baek Jong Won, a famous chef and CEO of The Born Korea, possessed a "blocklist" that he used to prevent certain entertainers from appearing on television shows.
As per reports on May 13th KST, a video titled “Baek Jong Won’s airport arrival and exclusive interview revealed! Who did Baek Jong Won remove from TV?” was posted on the YouTube channel 'Studio Ohjaena'. In the video, Kim Jae Hwan claimed that Baek Jong Won intervened to prevent singer Kim Ho Joong from participating in an SBS variety show, referring to it as part of Baek's personal blocklist.
Kim explained that during the filming of ‘Delicious Rendezvous’ in a cold winter, an acquaintance informed Baek about Kim Ho Joong’s appearance on an SBS show. Baek, who was facing a challenge with ratings against ‘Mister Trot’ due to his show ‘Alley Restaurant,’ expressed his displeasure. Following this, Baek reportedly contacted the head of SBS’s entertainment division and threatened to withdraw from all SBS programs if someone from ‘Mister Trot’ was featured. The CP of SBS apologized for the misunderstanding.
Kim further detailed that Baek had influenced the removal of a university professor from a show and blocked their chances of future appearances by leveraging personal connections.
This is not the first instance where Kim has brought up allegations against Baek Jong Won. He recently posted a conversation recorded without Baek's consent at an airport on YouTube.
