A significant development has emerged in the case involving the blackmail allegations against national footballer Son Heung Min. A woman named Yang in her 20s and a man named Yong in his 40s appeared in court today for a hearing regarding a pretrial detention warrant. The duo stands accused of demanding over 300 million KRW from Son Heung Min, threatening to reveal alleged pregnancy evidence involving Yang and Son if he did not comply with their demands. It was disclosed that Yang and Son had been in a relationship before, with Yang sending ultrasound images to Son Heung Min in June 2024 as part of the alleged extortion scheme.
While doubts arose regarding the authenticity of Yang's pregnancy, the police have now confirmed its legitimacy. Through an examination of Yang's medical records, it was verified that she had undergone an abortion and that the ultrasound images sent to Son Heung Min were genuine and belonged to Yang. However, the paternity of the child remains unconfirmed.
The investigation is ongoing as the authorities work to establish whether Yang exploited her pregnancy to blackmail Son Heung Min. During her court appearance, Yang reiterated her denial of the accusations of blackmail against Son Heung Min.
