NJZ Parents Accuse Bang Si Hyuk of Blocking Group's Performance at ComplexCon

In a recent social media statement, parents of the NJZ (New Jeans) group have raised serious allegations against HYBE Chairman, Bang Si Hyuk, accusing him of attempting to hinder the group's performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong.

Expressing their disappointment with HYBE and Korean entertainment associations, the parents criticized the timing and content of a joint statement released by five prominent organizations in the industry. These associations, including the Korean Entertainment Management Association and the Korean Music Content Association, called for specific legislation addressing 'tampering' in the K-pop sector, with a sharp focus on the NJZ-ADOR case.

Emphasizing that the legal proceedings were still in their early stages, the parents condemned the associations' statement for potentially jeopardizing the fairness of the legal process. They alleged that Bang Si Hyuk had personally intervened by reaching out to American stakeholders to impede NJZ's performance, portraying HYBE as prioritizing profits over the welfare of group members.

Despite attempts to address issues internally, the parents claimed that HYBE had disregarded their concerns and treated NJZ members solely as financial assets. A formal complaint to HYBE's chairman in April 2024 allegedly went unanswered.

Determined to proceed with their scheduled performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong, NJZ's parents highlighted this as a crucial step towards independence from HYBE and ADOR, urging fans to rally behind the group as they prepared to unveil a fresh persona under the name NJZ.

The statement further criticized the entertainment associations for orchestrating public opinion to shield the interests of HYBE and ADOR at the expense of the group's well-being. Stressing that the conflict was specific to NJZ and not indicative of wider industry issues, the parents underscored the need to recognize the agency-artist dynamics in play.

In a bold move, NJZ recently announced the termination of their contract with ADOR, signaling a significant shift away from HYBE. The anticipated ComplexCon performance serves as a momentous debut under the new moniker for the group, marking a pivotal chapter in their journey.
