Kanye West Claps Back at Lyor Cohen in Explosive Instagram Rant
Kanye West didn't hold back in his recent Instagram tirade against former Def Jam Recordings CEO Lyor Cohen, accusing him of profiting from violence in Hip-Hop and demanding an apology.
In response to Cohen's public letter expressing disappointment over West's controversial remarks, Kanye took to Instagram with a fiery post on Thursday morning. The rapper highlighted Cohen's address to him as "Kanye West" instead of his preferred name "Ye," mocking the music executive as "LEE OR."
Calling out the industry for promoting songs that glorify violence among black individuals, West questioned the double standards at play. He also made allegations of threats and extortion surrounding those close to him, suggesting a toxic influence from Cohen and his associates.
Things took a personal turn as Kanye insinuated that Cohen's ex, designer Tory Burch, made advances towards him. Despite the alleged encounter, West maintained that he considered Cohen a friend at the time.
Before concluding his rant with some cutting remarks and a mention of the late Irv Gotti, Kanye issued a direct ultimatum to Cohen, demanding accountability for profiting off the promotion of "black death" in the music industry.
While avoiding direct mention of the concerns regarding antisemitism and Nazi symbols raised in Cohen's letter, Kanye's assertive response garnered significant attention online.
