Noel Gallagher Criticizes Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show as "Absolute Nonsense"
Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher didn't pull any punches when discussing Kendrick Lamar's recent Super Bowl halftime performance, labeling it as "absolute nonsense" and revealing that he couldn't even endure the entire show.
Gallagher, known for his candid opinions, didn't hesitate to share his thoughts on Lamar's historic moment as the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. During an interview on TalkSPORT, the musician expressed his lack of admiration for the spectacle.
"I had to switch it off. It was absolute nonsense," Gallagher remarked when asked about Lamar's performance.
While Lamar's halftime show was widely acclaimed for breaking barriers, Gallagher remained unimpressed. He disclosed that he didn't watch the entirety of the performance, citing the initial chaotic scene of "300 people getting out of a car" as a turnoff.
Furthermore, Gallagher made it clear that he generally does not appreciate the halftime show extravagance, stating, "I don't like the halftime nonsense; it's usually artists I don't like."
Gallagher's disinterest in Super Bowl shows was evident when he confessed to never tuning in. Despite his indifference, Lamar's performance generated diverse reactions online, with some lauding the rapper's artistry and cultural impact while others echoed Gallagher's sentiments, branding it as the worst in a decade.
NME, a prominent music publication, recognized Lamar's halftime show as one of the top Super Bowl performances, ranking it third behind iconic acts like Michael Jackson and Prince.
