Choi Woo Sik and writer Lee Na Eun, known for their hit collaboration on ‘Our Beloved Summer,’ are back together for the highly anticipated Netflix romance drama ‘Melo Movie.’
During the press conference on February 12th KST at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, Choi expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I felt like this would be a place where I could be happy.”
In ‘Melo Movie,’ Choi portrays Go Gyeom, an aspiring actor turned film critic. Reflecting on working with Lee Na Eun again, he shared, “I love her writing style, and having worked with her before, I knew the magic of her scripts. The story resonated with me, aligning well with the type of projects I aspire to do—ones that foster personal growth and progression.”
He commended director Oh Choong Hwan (‘Hotel Del Luna,’ ‘Start-Up’) and co-star Park Bo Young, noting, “I’ve only heard praises for director Oh from all corners, and Bo Young's reputation as an actress precedes her. These positive sentiments reassured me that this project would be fulfilling—and indeed it was.”
When questioned about the variance between ‘Our Beloved Summer’s Choi Woong and ‘Melo Movie’s Go Gyeom, Choi humorously drew a comparison using MBTI personalities, jesting, “It’s like I (introvert) versus E (extrovert). Choi Woong was introspective and reserved, whereas Go Gyeom is extroverted, seeks support during challenges, and confronts obstacles boldly. He’s a definite E.”
‘Melo Movie’ is a romance drama that chronicles the cinematic journey of young adults navigating love, aspirations, and personal challenges, finding motivation in each other. With director Oh Choong Hwan’s distinctive flair and writer Lee Na Eun’s established expertise in youth romance (‘Our Beloved Summer’), the series is already sparking considerable anticipation.
