Zül-Qarnain Nantambu, the individual who made headlines for disrupting Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, has spoken out about his actions that quickly spread across the internet.
During the halftime performance, Nantambu unveiled a banner representing Palestine and Sudan with the words “Gaza” and “Sudan” prominently displayed. His unexpected appearance on the field, waving the flags and calling for attention to the crises in those regions, captured the attention of viewers worldwide.
In a dramatic moment, Nantambu climbed atop a black Grand National car on stage before descending and running across the field for approximately 20 seconds before being tackled by security. Despite being part of the show’s cast, he confirmed that Lamar and the Super Bowl organizers were not aware of his planned protest.
Explaining his motivations, Nantambu clarified that his protest was a gesture of solidarity with the suffering populations in the conflict-ridden areas, emphasizing the stark disparity in living conditions compared to his own. His actions were not meant to be seen as political but as a statement of support for those enduring hardship.
The NFL has since banned Nantambu from all future league events, stating that he concealed the banner beforehand, catching everyone by surprise during the performance. While he evaded immediate arrest, the incident is now under investigation by the New Orleans Police Department for potential charges.
