Clon’s Koo Jun Yup, also known as DJ Koo, reportedly entered into a prenuptial agreement with the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, as disclosed by Taiwan’s ET Today on February 10.
The agreement involved the transfer of a mansion located on the National Art Museum site to Barbie Hsu’s mother, though its validity has been questioned due to the lack of court notarization. Consequently, there is a possibility that Koo Jun Yup may still be entitled to inherit Barbie Hsu’s estate.
Barbie Hsu, previously married to businessman Wang Xiao Fei with whom she had a son and daughter, got divorced in 2021 after a decade-long marriage. In 2022, she rekindled her romance with former partner Koo Jun Yup, leading to their much-talked-about reunion in matrimony. Tragically, Barbie Hsu passed away at the age of 48 on February 2, 2025, while visiting Japan, succumbing to acute pneumonia.
With an estimated estate value of 600 million yuan (approximately 82.1 million USD), Barbie Hsu possessed various properties in Taipei City’s Xinyi District, including the National Art Museum site and a penthouse. Notably, her Grandview Residence, acquired in 2011, was allegedly sold for 54.81 million yuan (about 7.5 million USD) in 2020. The National Art Museum site’s current valuation stands at around 44.38 million yuan (approximately 6.1 million USD), while the penthouse is valued at 80.34 million yuan (about 11 million USD).
In legal circles in Taiwan, it is believed that Barbie Hsu’s estate will be evenly divided between her children from her prior marriage and Koo Jun Yup. Speculations suggest that Koo Jun Yup might face challenges concerning inheritance and guardianship of the children due to not being their biological father and their marital status not being officially registered.
Koo Jun Yup addressed the matter of inheritance by stating, “The estate represents the fruits of Barbie Hsu’s labor in safeguarding her cherished family, hence I intend to entrust all decisions regarding inheritance to my mother-in-law.” He further emphasized, “I am committed to pursuing legal avenues, with the assistance of legal counsel, to safeguard the children’s rights until they attain adulthood, shielding them from any undue interference.”
