Karina, a member of the group aespa, decided to delete a recent Instagram post due to the uproar it caused for potentially suggesting political support prior to the South Korean presidential election.

The post in question featured a set of pictures taken in Tokyo, Japan, where Karina was seen posing cheerfully in a red jersey with a notable diagonal stripe and the number '2'. Although the caption only included a flower emoji, the choice of attire led to speculation online. The color red is associated with the conservative People Power Party, while the number 2 corresponds to candidate Kim Moon Soo's ballot number. Some social media users interpreted this as a form of indirect endorsement for the candidate.

Supporters of Kim praised Karina as a "patriotic conservative" and "the goddess of the right," suggesting her leanings through their comments. On the other hand, critics stressed the need for caution from public figures in politically charged times, citing the potential for colors and numbers to be misconstrued as political symbols.

As the controversy gained momentum across online platforms, Karina removed the post from her Instagram account to quell the debate.

Karina is not the sole celebrity drawing attention for their political inclinations during this election period. Various figures, such as singer Kim Heung Gook, JK Kim Dong Wook, and comedian Lee Hyuk Jae, have shown support for Kim Moon Soo. Conversely, actors Lee Ki Young, Lee Won Jong, and Park Hyuk Kwon have openly endorsed Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae Myung.

Furthermore, aespa recently wrapped up a successful fan meeting in Japan and hinted at an upcoming third arena tour.
